CROWN POINT – In the last Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association poll, Class 4A No. 1 Crown Point and No. 2 LaPorte were separated by seven points. That’s how close the voting coaches in the state thought these teams were.
On April 21 at Crown Point, it was that same game of inches. Scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a throwing error, top-ranked Crown Point topped LaPorte, 5-4, in Duneland Conference play.
